Aller simple pour le Vietnam
This book traces the journey of Catherine Leroy, the first woman to receive the Robert Capa Gold Medal. Arriving in Vietnam in 1966 at only 21, with a Leica and a few dollars, she covered the war alongside the Marines, sharing their daily life and missions. Her powerful images reveal the brutal reality of the conflict: courage, fear, solidarity and the soldiers’ distress, but also the suffering of the Vietnamese people. Captured during the Tet Offensive, she produced a striking report that made the cover of Life. The first female civilian to parachute with the U.S. Army, she established herself in a male-dominated field and paved the way for future women war reporters. Her bold and singular vision left a lasting mark on the history of photojournalism. Including excerpts from her correspondence with her parents, the book reflects her development — driven by political, social, and feminist conviction.
